Shirtworks, one of the UK's leading promotional clothing companies, offers unique clothing deal to UK charities in line with ethical policy
Shirtworks has launched a new ethical promotional clothing service for UK charities, charging only for the printing or embroidery, whilst supplying the original ethically produced garments at cost price. Arron Harnden, MD, explains the reasoning behind this unique offer

OXFORD, UK March 26, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Shirtworks has launched a new promotional clothing service specifically for UK charities. In line with the company's own ethical policies regarding fair trade, organic products and environmentally friendly production methods, Shirtworks is offering to produce branded clothing for charities, charging only for the printing or embroidery. The garments, made from organic cotton, are supplied at cost price, and are obtained via Fairtrade. The decision to not make a profit on the garments themselves in the production of promotional clothing is thought to be the first of its kind in the country. For more information, visit www.shirtworks.co.uk or call 0800 0725334.

Arron Harnden, Managing Director of Shirtworks explained the reasons why this promotional clothing service specifically for charities has been launched. "We have strong ethical policies that underpin our business, as do many UK charities," Arron began. "We have extensive experience of working with charities to produce branded garments for specific fundraising events, or simply printed and embroidered logos of the charity itself. It became apparent that these charities want to obtain promotional clothing that has been produced according to the same high ethical standards that they embody. When we considered meeting this demand with a new tailored service, we felt that it was only right to forego any profit made on the use of ethically produced garments. We hope that not only will this encourage the use of ethically produced clothing, but it will also ensure that the charity's money can go further," Arron explained. "Making a profit from marking up the garments before any logo printing is carried out just seemed unethical."

Shirtworks has used ethically produced clothing ranges for some time. "We feel very strongly about the use of Fair trade garments," Arron enthused. "The ethical clothing range that we use is made from Fairtrade certified cotton. Fairtrade certification guarantees that the small-scale cotton farmers in India, Peru, Mali and Senegal receive a fair and stable price plus a premium to invest in social and environmental projects. We also stock a range of garments made from high quality organic cotton, and for all ethically produced clothing, we ensure that the suppliers manufacture the garments in safe, non-exploitative factories." Any charities or charity fundraisers interested in using this ethically sound promotional clothing offer are invited to get in touch as soon as possible due to anticipated high demand.
